A


Activity:   The generic term for items that sit outside of the Course / Certification model.   Current Activities include QA evaluation, and Seminars.


Assessment:   The generic term used for items that are meant to evaluate or judge a persons knowledge about something.  Examples of types of Assessments in Coursettra are: Examinations, Evaluations, Questions, Direct Observations.


C


Certification:  This represents the overall "Program of Study" your learner is trying to achieve.   It is the top level of the training make-up in Coursettra:       Certification > Certification Track > Course.        Its similar to a University Degree > Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior years > All of the many courses that must be completed to achieve that Degree.       


Certification Tracks:  Certification Tracks are the middle level of the training make-up in Coursettra.   Certification > Certification Track > Course.     The certification track simply lets you pre-group a series of courses that are needed into to fulfill a given aspect of the overall Certification.    


Client:  The label given to each unique customer of Coursettra.   Your client settings refer to your organizations configurations as a whole.  


Company Goals:   The highest level of objectives that can be defined in Coursettra.   Often, they represent the broad concepts important to the organization.    Coursettra's four levels of objectives include Core Competency > Program Objective > Course Objectives > Learning Objective


Course:  A grouped list of training events a student is expected to complete in whole, during a specified period of time.   


Course Objectives:    The third level of objective that can be defined in Coursettra.  Course Objectives indicate the overall goals of a particular training course.  Coursettra's four levels of objectives include Core Competency > Program Objective > Course Objectives > Learning Objective


Course Overview:   The parent item connecting like-courses together.  Depending on your setup, you may have several copies of the same course.    The Overview is simply used to connect all copies together.   In order to create a Course, you must first have a Course Overview in place.  


Course Usage Tag:  Course Usage Tags are a type of "Tag Category" (found under the Administration Options) which allow you to link Course Overview to your Certification Tracks.     They establish what courses can be taken to complete Certification Tracks.    For example, your organization may establish a New Hire certification track.   And as part of that training, all employees must complete the course that covers their Core Job Duties.    However, each of your employees may have different positions, thus the course they need to complete will vary from employee to employee.     The course usage tag is what allows you to tag multiple courses, so the system knows any 1 of them will count to fulfill that need.    Simply create a "Core Job Duties" course usage tag.... then add it to each of the Course Overviews that are an options (Sales training course, your CSR training course, your Receptionist training course, etc.).      


Curriculum:  Your overall training map including the groupings of courses expected for a student to complete.

Event Template:  A training module created and available for use/share on any course.   Event Templates pre-package resources, learning objectives, and assessments into one usable item.

Learners:   Formerly called 'Students', learners are any participants that have a student role.  In other words, they're the ones who will be receiving the training you have setup.   


Learning Objective:  The fourth and most detailed level of objectives that can be defined in Coursettra.   Learning Objectives define the specific goals of the course event, and indicate the demonstrable skill or knowledge that will be acquired by the student as a result of the instruction.     Coursettra's four levels of objectives include Core Competency > Program Objective > Course Objectives > Learning Objective

Organization:   Used to represent the groupings of people within your organization.   Departments, people groups, customer companies, etc. can all be represented as Organizations.  



Q


Question:  A sentence or grouping of words intended to be used on an assessment to elicit feedback or information from a person.   Questions are entered into the system 1-by-1 in a shared "bucket".     Then, when it comes time to create an Exam or Evaluation, you will choose which questions you would like to add to each exam or evaluation.   The same question can be used on several different items.... and when updates or revised, will affect all of the exams/evals it is on.   


Quizzes:   A form of assessment used to test a person's knowledge or proficiency in the topics they have been instructed to learn.

Resource:  The content or media loaded into Coursettra that will be used to instruct or convey information.   The materials you'll use within your courses. 


S


Seminar:  A tool used to offer in-person events to the general public.    Seminars offer a web-page registration option, and can link students directly to training courses and certifications. 


Standard:   A level of quality or attainment that indicates how curriculum should measure-up.   Standards often come from third party organizations, and provide a roadmap for the topics training organizations should cover.     Coursettra provides tools for mapping your curriculum to the different areas of various standards in order to represent how your curriculum addresses the specifications of the standard. 


Standard Objective:   The specific goals or statements that make-up a standard.    


Surveys:   A form of assessment used to gather opinions about items and people in the system.

Training Goals:   The second level of objectives defined in Coursettra.   While Core Competencies represent the overall goals or missions of your company, Program Objectives represent the overall goals of the different training factions within your company.   They should define how specific areas of your company will accomplish your companies Core Competencies.  Coursettra's four levels of objectives include Core Competency > Program Objective > Course Objectives > Learning Objective
